[00:00:00.000 –> 00:00:29.960] And we’re up boys, only we did the first one together. It was like five years ago? Yeah, I think it was 2017, right? Or 2018? Yeah, I was two and only USC. I was just coming off the Andrei soccer mom fight where I broke my foot. Um, 20. Yeah, I was 23.
[00:00:29.960 –> 00:00:59.880] Yeah, that was just after your broken foot. Yeah. And now here you are, the fucking champ of the world. We did it. Living in a dream. Like, it’s crazy because that whole fight week, I always take a lot of naps fight week, especially because it was on the east coast and we’re trying to stay up late. And I would have crazy vivid dreams, not necessarily about the fight, but just really vivid dreams. And so after the fight, it just felt like I was kind of in one of those dreams. I’m like, there’s no way that went out. I thought that played out.
[00:00:59.880 –> 00:01:12.880] There’s no way that played out literally how I wanted to play out. So for a while, I kept thinking like, I’m going to wake up in my bed and still have to go out there and do that. But I haven’t woke up from a nap yet. So we’re still for holding.
[00:01:12.880 –> 00:01:28.880] Well, it makes you wonder what dreams really are. Yeah. It’s so weird that we just accept that we close our eyes every night and scenarios take place that don’t really take place. And they seem super vivid. And then weird things happen.
[00:01:28.880 –> 00:01:41.880] And then you wake up and you’re like, oh, that wasn’t real. But we just accept that there’s many times where I’ve been in a lucid dream or many times I’ve been in a dream that felt so real.
[00:01:41.880 –> 00:01:52.880] What’s going on in our head? Probably a lot during a sober October for you too, because I know when I squish woke and we didn’t camp, like when I get close to the fight, my dreams are so fucking vivid.
[00:01:52.880 –> 00:02:01.880] It’s kind of scary. Like a snapshot of another dimension. I’m like, could that possibly be us in another dimension witnessing our life play out some other way?
[00:02:01.880 –> 00:02:11.880] It could be that what you’re doing is like peeking. You’re like, every night, you like peek in this other dimension and then pop back up in the morning when you wake up.
[00:02:11.880 –> 00:02:28.880] That’s one of the theories about DMT. It’s some sort of a chemical gateway to the next dimension or the next realm of existence and that when the lights go out and then your brain floods with that stuff, your consciousness uses that chemical as a gateway.
[00:02:28.880 –> 00:02:29.880] Yeah.
[00:02:29.880 –> 00:02:38.880] I’ve never, we’ve never done DMT. I’ve told myself I want to do like DMT, I watch that stuff after fighting because right now I have a mindset to I want to be world champ.
[00:02:38.880 –> 00:02:43.880] I feel like if I do something like that, maybe I switch that around and wait.
[00:02:43.880 –> 00:02:46.880] Yeah, it might be a problem. I’m loving.
[00:02:46.880 –> 00:02:50.880] Yeah, that’s literally the issue. I still have that fucking want to kill.
[00:02:50.880 –> 00:02:54.880] It’s really strong, strictly want to kill, but like in the cage dominates.
[00:02:54.880 –> 00:02:55.880] Yeah, dominate.
[00:02:55.880 –> 00:03:00.880] When we’re talking to Dana too, he said Cheetah was recently started doing mushrooms when he was training and stuff.
[00:03:00.880 –> 00:03:09.880] I don’t know if anything’s did. Yeah, I wasn’t. I wonder if it has anything to do with his performances for sandhagging stuff. Just look stuck in the mud.
[00:03:09.880 –> 00:03:11.880] I think it’s just sandhagging.
[00:03:11.880 –> 00:03:14.880] I think sandhagging was way faster way.
[00:03:14.880 –> 00:03:24.880] He’s so diverse. He’s got so much going on. I love watching that guy fight because like when he’s going after folks, he’s given them so many looks. There’s so much going on.
[00:03:24.880 –> 00:03:31.880] There’s the patterns are non-existent. I’m not making sure they exist, but I’m not picking them up.
[00:03:31.880 –> 00:03:36.880] You think he’s going to kick, he shoots, he thinks he’s going to punch, he kicks, there’s movement to the side.
[00:03:36.880 –> 00:03:38.880] You think he’s going to engage and he doesn’t.
[00:03:38.880 –> 00:03:42.880] He has last three fights too. He’s been really wrestling a lot.
[00:03:42.880 –> 00:03:47.880] So you got to think like, because I don’t know, I could fight, I mean, there’s a couple of different people I could fight next.
[00:03:47.880 –> 00:03:54.880] But thinking about fighting Corey, it’s like, okay, is he going to be turning into that wrestler or is he going to want to strike or is he going to mix it up?
[00:03:54.880 –> 00:03:59.880] I’m assuming, you know, going into a fight with Corey is going to want to mix it up a bit, but yeah, it’s interesting.
[00:03:59.880 –> 00:04:00.880] He can do anything.
[00:04:00.880 –> 00:04:07.880] And the fact that he pulled that fight off with a completely torn tricep first round tears the tricep from the bone, needs surgery.
[00:04:07.880 –> 00:04:12.880] I was excited for that fight too. I watched, I mean, I stopped watching at one point.
[00:04:12.880 –> 00:04:18.880] I think that was the same night, like Jake Nate, so I was kind of flipping back and forth, but yeah, I was so excited for that fight.
[00:04:18.880 –> 00:04:21.880] I thought it was going to be one of those bangers, but I mean, he did what he had to do to win.
[00:04:21.880 –> 00:04:24.880] Yeah, just super, not in, it wasn’t super entertaining.
[00:04:24.880 –> 00:04:28.880] Yeah, I was really interested in seeing him fight Umar.
[00:04:28.880 –> 00:04:29.880] Yeah.
[00:04:29.880 –> 00:04:31.880] That was the interesting one.
[00:04:31.880 –> 00:04:31.880] Yeah.
[00:04:31.880 –> 00:04:32.880] You know, and when–
[00:04:32.880 –> 00:04:33.880] Fuck, I forgot that was it.
[00:04:33.880 –> 00:04:34.880] Yeah.
[00:04:34.880 –> 00:04:37.880] Umar never can mount off as a fuck, and he’s a problem.
[00:04:37.880 –> 00:04:42.880] I want him to start, I mean, he’s got the name Nirmen can mount off. I don’t know how many fights he has, and you see how many wins he has.
[00:04:42.880 –> 00:04:48.880] I’ve actually never really watched a fight, but I know he’s got the name, and I know he’s fucking super skill. He trains with those guys.
[00:04:48.880 –> 00:04:52.880] That could be a huge fight someday. I want him to fucking start winning some fights.
[00:04:52.880 –> 00:04:55.880] I was excited for him to potentially beat Corey, or for Corey to get a win over him.
[00:04:55.880 –> 00:04:56.880] Right.
[00:04:56.880 –> 00:05:00.880] Just to build characters and build like big fights, because that’s what I want. I want big fucking fights.
[00:05:00.880 –> 00:05:06.880] Well, you’re going to bring big fights. That’s what’s so exciting about having someone who’s a champ who’s such a big personality.
[00:05:06.880 –> 00:05:07.880] Yeah.
[00:05:07.880 –> 00:05:10.880] And there’s so many eyes on the Banaway Division now, you know.
[00:05:10.880 –> 00:05:19.880] The Banaway Division has always been like just a fucking murderous row from Hennen Barrow to TJ Dilishaw.
[00:05:19.880 –> 00:05:25.880] Like across the board, dominant crews, you know, God damn. I mean, it’s from Cody and Garbrandt.
[00:05:25.880 –> 00:05:31.880] Like, people like, forget because of Cody’s losses, but how good Cody is when he’s on.
[00:05:31.880 –> 00:05:32.880] Yeah.
[00:05:32.880 –> 00:05:35.880] You know, because just the guy’s been in a lot of wars, you know.
[00:05:35.880 –> 00:05:37.880] Seems like he’s got just injury issues too, right?
[00:05:37.880 –> 00:05:38.880] A lot of injury issues.
[00:05:38.880 –> 00:05:43.880] Which sucks. I remember after one of my fights I got injured and he said some people just aren’t built for this.
[00:05:43.880 –> 00:05:46.880] And that didn’t age well for him, but I mean, hey dude, I’m fucked.
[00:05:46.880 –> 00:05:48.880] I feel like I’m fragile sometimes too.
[00:05:48.880 –> 00:05:53.880] If I didn’t start working with Brandon Harris like my strength and conditioning coach and Dan Garner for nutrition,
[00:05:53.880 –> 00:05:56.880] like I feel like I was getting injured all the fucking time.
[00:05:56.880 –> 00:05:57.880] Yeah.
[00:05:57.880 –> 00:05:58.880] It sucks. This sports brutal.
[00:05:58.880 –> 00:06:01.880] It’s the most brutal. And there’s no way to prevent that.
[00:06:01.880 –> 00:06:02.880] No.
[00:06:02.880 –> 00:06:06.880] You know, some people are incredible. Like Jim Miller. Jim Miller has never had surgery.
[00:06:06.880 –> 00:06:09.880] I feel like it’s their genes. They’ve got to be.
[00:06:09.880 –> 00:06:11.880] He’s got some weird fucking woodsman genes.
[00:06:11.880 –> 00:06:12.880] Yeah.
[00:06:12.880 –> 00:06:13.880] Yeah.
[00:06:13.880 –> 00:06:14.880] Some vlogger genes.
[00:06:14.880 –> 00:06:15.880] Right?
[00:06:15.880 –> 00:06:20.880] Like a Benson Henderson. It’s crazy. There’s just so many different paths to make someone a champion. There’s not just, there’s this one way. You got to do it.
[00:06:20.880 –> 00:06:22.880] There’s not just, there’s this one way. You got to do it.
[00:06:22.880 –> 00:06:23.880] Yeah.
[00:06:23.880 –> 00:06:24.880] No, there’s just so many ways.
[00:06:24.880 –> 00:06:30.880] Like Sean Strickland sparring all the time and then I fucking literally only spar in camp.
[00:06:30.880 –> 00:06:35.880] It’s like just two opposite styles, both just one similar times with the wild.
[00:06:35.880 –> 00:06:41.880] What Sean is doing is so unique because you know, they put a mouthpiece on him.
[00:06:41.880 –> 00:06:43.880] You know, the UFC had some device. I think it was a mouthpiece.
[00:06:43.880 –> 00:06:46.880] Did they use it with you? Or they try to figure out how many times you get hit and sparring?
[00:06:46.880 –> 00:06:47.880] Uh-huh.
[00:06:47.880 –> 00:06:53.880] Well, they gave him this thing and they found out that he sparrs more than all the other fighters they tested
[00:06:53.880 –> 00:06:57.880] and he gets hit less than all the other fighters they tested. He gets hit less than anybody.
[00:06:57.880 –> 00:07:02.880] Which is amazing. But it’s the timing is his distance control.
[00:07:02.880 –> 00:07:09.880] He’s like so tuned in to the idea of hitting a person, not just hitting a bag, not just doing drills,
[00:07:09.880 –> 00:07:13.880] but all of his moves, all of his movements when he’s training or hitting people.
[00:07:13.880 –> 00:07:18.880] I wonder how many of his sparring partners are like, I don’t even want to fucking hit him because he’s just going to turn it up
[00:07:18.880 –> 00:07:24.880] and it’s going to be a full fight because there’s guys you spar with and it’s like, “Okay, if I hit this dude,
[00:07:24.880 –> 00:07:28.880] I wonder how many of those guys know going into sparring?”
[00:07:28.880 –> 00:07:30.880] Like, “Okay, if I even hit him, it’s going to turn it into something.
[00:07:30.880 –> 00:07:33.880] I might as well just kind of play around for five minutes, get to the next guy.”
[00:07:33.880 –> 00:07:38.880] I’m sure. But, I mean, you look at the guys, he’s got talented guys, he trains with Chris Curtis.
[00:07:38.880 –> 00:07:42.880] Chris Curtis talented. And really, Chris Curtis is really talented in the pocket.
[00:07:42.880 –> 00:07:48.880] You know, he’s really good. Like, Rip in the body. His boxing’s excellent. He’s got really good defense.
[00:07:48.880 –> 00:07:52.880] So him and Sean together, I mean, that’s like too sad.
[00:07:52.880 –> 00:07:55.880] Yeah. Just good boxers, too. And strictly.
[00:07:55.880 –> 00:07:58.880] Solid boxer. Strickland just doesn’t switch stances at all.
[00:07:58.880 –> 00:08:02.880] Just Orthodox the whole time. Man, he has a fucking sweet to watch.
[00:08:02.880 –> 00:08:06.880] And dude, his leg checks. The checks from those kicks was so on point.
[00:08:06.880 –> 00:08:14.880] Yeah, I was impressed. None of them snuck in. The best at that at all, from, of all time of sneaking kicks in is Beheda.
[00:08:14.880 –> 00:08:20.880] So scary. Yeah, it doesn’t like make sense the way it doesn’t, it’s just like a shin move, nothing else.
[00:08:20.880 –> 00:08:25.880] It’s wild. He keeps his shoulders completely square, and you do not see it coming.
[00:08:25.880 –> 00:08:31.880] So he sacrifices, I mean, but he’s got so much power, he can sacrifice some power and it doesn’t matter.
[00:08:31.880 –> 00:08:36.880] He’s just doing numbers on that calf. Yeah. And is his leg was fucked after the first round of the second fight?
[00:08:36.880 –> 00:08:42.880] You could tell. I can’t, that’s crazy. They just added that to the co-main event for John Jones and Steepay.
[00:08:42.880 –> 00:08:46.880] Because neither of them are champions. So they’re just gonna stack that fucking card and only have to pay out John Jones
[00:08:46.880 –> 00:08:48.880] because he’s the champion for pay-per-view.
[00:08:48.880 –> 00:08:50.880] That’s probably why they…
[00:08:50.880 –> 00:08:52.880] You think it’s like a business man now?
[00:08:52.880 –> 00:08:54.880] The champ thinks like a business man.
[00:08:54.880 –> 00:08:56.880] I’ve been thinking like a business man. Yeah, I agree.
[00:08:56.880 –> 00:08:59.880] I feel like I’ve been chanting for a long time and just find it official.
[00:08:59.880 –> 00:09:02.880] But yeah, I know it’s, that card’s gonna be fucking sweet.
[00:09:02.880 –> 00:09:08.880] Who else is on that card? I know, I think there’s another, another banger on that card.
[00:09:08.880 –> 00:09:10.880] Yeah, they always try to stack New York City.
[00:09:10.880 –> 00:09:14.880] Yeah. That Madison Square Garden card is special. There’s something special about that arena.
[00:09:14.880 –> 00:09:18.880] That arena gives you goosebumps, just walking in and you’re like, “God damn.”
[00:09:18.880 –> 00:09:23.880] That TD Garden was fucking crazy because my first, like, nine fights and you see we’re all in Vegas.
[00:09:23.880 –> 00:09:27.880] Vegas, Vegas, Vegas, Vegas. And then I fought in Abu Dhabi and then we went to Boston.
[00:09:27.880 –> 00:09:30.880] So it was the first time fighting somewhere other than Vegas in the United States.
[00:09:30.880 –> 00:09:34.880] Yeah, so those are the two big ones. And scroll down and see the rest of it.
[00:09:34.880 –> 00:09:36.880] Jessica and George, Mackenzie Durna, that’s a good fight.
[00:09:36.880 –> 00:09:38.880] Oh, okay. Some decent, but not one thinking.
[00:09:38.880 –> 00:09:42.880] Jared Gordon, Mark Lads, and that’s a good fight match note. Yeah, I thought there was more bangers.
[00:09:42.880 –> 00:09:45.880] Sometimes they have a nice pre-limb, a nice main event pre-limb.
[00:09:45.880 –> 00:09:48.880] Yeah, that’s the pre-limb. Go to the ESPN.
[00:09:48.880 –> 00:09:49.880] Mackenzie Durna, Jiggly.
[00:09:49.880 –> 00:09:51.880] It would be right here if this was just the fight.
[00:09:51.880 –> 00:09:54.880] Okay, so that’s what makes sense because this doesn’t look like the actual order.
[00:09:54.880 –> 00:10:00.880] Because here we’re talking in September and I believe that’s the main, the co-main and probably
[00:10:00.880 –> 00:10:03.880] maybe the fight before that, but they might move all this shit around.
[00:10:03.880 –> 00:10:05.880] Yeah. Yeah. This is just the announced fight.
[00:10:05.880 –> 00:10:06.880] Yeah, okay, that makes sense.
[00:10:06.880 –> 00:10:09.880] Yeah, I don’t know. Yeah, I don’t think you would open up the pay-per-view with these match-ups.
[00:10:09.880 –> 00:10:11.880] I guess so, but I’m not sober yet, so.
[00:10:11.880 –> 00:10:16.880] Right. I’m very interested to see how much steepays got left in the tank.
[00:10:16.880 –> 00:10:20.880] One of the things I really like is that he spent all this time off.
[00:10:20.880 –> 00:10:24.880] So he hasn’t been hit. He, you know, no punishments, no wars, no chaos.
[00:10:24.880 –> 00:10:27.880] He’s been two solid years of recovery.
[00:10:27.880 –> 00:10:29.880] That’s huge. It’s big.
[00:10:29.880 –> 00:10:33.880] Even if he wasn’t training crazy, but his body was able to kind of recover,
[00:10:33.880 –> 00:10:37.880] I feel like there’s so much into that than just being trained and trained and trained and trained
[00:10:37.880 –> 00:10:39.880] and fucking busting yourself down.
[00:10:39.880 –> 00:10:42.880] Yeah. I mean, it was just never taking anything away from DC,
[00:10:42.880 –> 00:10:48.880] but I’ve often wondered if that KO, if some of that KO was him coming off of that fight with Francis.
[00:10:48.880 –> 00:10:49.880] Mm-hmm.
[00:10:49.880 –> 00:10:53.880] Because if you go watch that first round of that fight with Francis.
